Teatro Visión Outreach Programs

Through our plays we seek to articulate the voices of Latinos in the United States and explore their unique social, political, cultural and psychological experience through themes that resonate with people from all races, backgrounds and lifestyles. Our following programs also support this work.

Instituto

Teatro Visión has held annual training sessions throughout its history. In 2005 it launched the Instituto de Teatro, a training that includes performance skills and training in forms of participatory theater aimed at social change. Learn more >>

Codices

A program that provides Latino playwrights a supportive and creative environment for the development of new work. This project has resulted in the development and production of two world premieres, Conjunto, by Oliver Mayer and Boxcar/El Vagon by Sylvia Gonzalez S. Currently in the works is a stage adaptation of B.Traven’s classic tale, Macario.

Forums/Talkbacks

It is our goal to present plays that create dialogue beyond the stage. Our forums provide the space for the discussion of themes, information of the historical setting and insight into the artistic process.

Domingo de Teatro

A free performance of each play we present taking place on the first Sunday. Our Domingo de Teatro performance assures that all members of the community can attend our plays.

Student Matinees

For each applicable show, Teatro Visión presents an exclusive weekday matinee performance for middle/high school youth. Contact us >>

Free Teacher Nights

The first two performances of each play are free for educators plus a guest. It is an opportunity to preview a show for their students and to thank them for their work as an educator!

Volunteering

Auditions

Teatro Visión has had the pleasure of working with hundreds of talented artists through our plays, and our insatiable hunger to work with more continues as we invite you to audition for our plays.

Teatro Visión holds its annual general auditions in late Spring/early Summer. We are continually seeking female & male bilingual (Spanish/English) actors for our season of plays. We ask to prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, each 2 minutes in length, as well as a headshot of yourself. We do ask for a resume listing your experience; singing, dancing and languages are considered valuable experience.
